[October 1 to October 10] China Hong Kong Association: monitoring and analysis of port production and operation

Statistics show that the number of newly confirmed cases in the world in the first ten days of October decreased compared with the last ten days of September. Britain, Russia and Turkey are the top three countries in terms of newly confirmed cases. Domestically, there have been no new locally confirmed cases for five consecutive days since October 6. In terms of ports, in the first ten days of October, CCPIT will monitor that the cargo throughput of major coastal hub ports increased by 0.8% year-on-year, of which the cargo throughput of foreign trade increased by 0.6% year-on-year; The port throughput of the Yangtze River hub decreased by 4.8% year-on-year and the container volume decreased by 3.1% year-on-year. Details are as follows:

1、 The container throughput of the eight hub ports increased rapidly in the same period

In early October, the container throughput of the eight coastal hub ports increased by 10% year-on-year, which was faster than that in the early stage. Among them, foreign trade increased by 12.5% year-on-year, accounting for 76% of the total, and domestic trade increased by 2.8% year-on-year. In terms of ports, the growth rate of Dalian port is more than 40%, that of Tianjin port and Guangzhou port is more than 20%, that of Ningbo Zhoushan port is more than 10%, and that of Xiamen port is nearly 20%. It is reported that in October, COSCO Shipping and other Chinese liner companies increased transport capacity supply and opened more direct passenger express lines to meet the needs of foreign trade export in peak season.

2、 The decline in coal throughput of key monitoring ports narrowed

In this period, the coal throughput of Qinhuangdao port and Shenhua Huanghua Port decreased by 11.1% year-on-year, which was narrower than that in the previous period. From October 4 to 28, Daqin Railway underwent 25 days of centralized maintenance, and the daily traffic volume decreased by about 10%. In terms of inventory, on October 10, the inventory of the two ports fell by 7% year-on-year, basically the same as that on September 30. The National Energy Administration recently said that in the face of greater pressure to ensure supply this winter and next spring, it will urge the main coal producing areas to increase production and supply, and speed up the resumption of production if conditions permit; Expand the scale of imported coal, urge all coal deficient provinces to communicate with the railway department in advance, strive for transportation capacity, and strive for the largest amount of imported coal resources.

3、 The crude oil throughput of key monitoring ports fell year-on-year

The tight global energy supply has led to the continuous recovery of international oil prices. At present, WTI and Brent crude oil futures have rebounded to more than $80 / barrel. In this period, CCPIT will focus on monitoring that the crude oil throughput of coastal ports decreased by 9.3% year-on-year. In terms of inventory, on October 10, the inventory of key monitoring ports decreased by 12.2% year-on-year, basically the same as that on September 30.

4、 The ore throughput of key monitoring ports increased significantly year-on-year

Recently, the centralized procurement of steel mills after the festival has led to the rebound of iron ore price, and the main contract is close to 800 yuan / ton. However, the market expects that the space for ore price recovery is limited due to the current sufficient port inventory. In terms of ports, in this period, CCPIT will focus on monitoring the port metal ore throughput, with a year-on-year increase of 11.7%. Among them, the growth rate of Ningbo Zhoushan port exceeded 40%, and that of Rizhao Port exceeded 20%. The port inventory is relatively sufficient. On October 10, the inventory of key monitoring ports increased by 15.6% year-on-year, basically the same as that on September 30.

5、 The port throughput of the Yangtze River hub fell year-on-year

In early October, the total cargo throughput of Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing ports decreased by 4.8% year-on-year, and the total container throughput decreased by 3.1%. Specifically, the situation of foreign trade ships entering the river and waiting for berthing in Nanjing port has improved, and the foreign trade throughput has recovered, with a growth rate of nearly 15%. Recently, the increase of bulk to bulk cargo sources has led to a significant rebound in container throughput of Chongqing port, with a growth rate of more than 10%.
